Nashville-based Music City Metals has earned a reputation for quality as a manufacturer of original equipment and after-market gas grill parts for well-known brands like Weber, Viking, and Grillmaster. Over the past few years, however, competitors have tried using Music City Metals’ trademarks, product descriptions, and artwork to sell inferior counterfeit products via online retail websites. With the assistance of Waller intellectual property attorneys, Music City Metals has been able to protect its product line – and its good name.

Since 2011, three different manufacturers based in Taiwan and China have attempted to trade on Music City Metals’ status as a leading producer of gas grill parts by co-opting descriptions and images of the Nashville-based manufacturer’s products and promoting knockoffs on retail websites like Amazon and EBay. Waller attorneys successfully represented Music City Metals in two lawsuits that resulted in the counterfeit products being removed from Amazon and EBay.

Earlier this year, Waller filed a third lawsuit against a Chinese manufacturer in the Middle District of Tennessee on behalf of Music City Metals. On March 11, 2015, after a bench hearing, United States District Judge Kevin H. Sharp granted Waller’s request for a preliminary injunction against the five defendants named in the lawsuit. The Judge’s order noted the critical importance of Music City Metals’ unique model numbers, photographs, illustrations, and fitment data for the replacement grill parts the company sells.
